What ELKS do for our Community
Veterans Service Programs: We participate by donating socks
to active soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq, books and toiletries to Veteran Hospitals and Homeless shelters in the Houston and the local Community and support the Wounded Warrior Program. We also support the cell phones for soldier program.
The Elks National Foundation Endowment fund distributes funds to
support: Scholarship Programs, Drug Awareness Programs, “Hoop Shoot”
free throw contest, Soccer Shoot Contest, plus substantial annual grants to disadvantaged children and adults.
Camp for Kids with Special Needs: The Texas Elks own and support a
camp in Ottine Texas that is for kids with special needs. 7 weeks of camp is fully supported by the Texas Elks program. Children with special needs, mentally or physically can attend this camp free of charge for a week. Our Camps motto is “Having a difference Doesn’t have to make a Difference”.
Holiday Food and Clothing Drives: We collect food and/or clothing for
needing families and battered women and children’s shelters at Thanksgiving and Christmas. We contribute to EJ’s stocking fund every year.
These are just a few of the things that the ELKS do for our community.
We support many more local organizations like ScoutingTroops, and
Taste for Some Other Place.
